For those who don't follow the fighting game scene, the Evolution fighting game tournament is the largest, most competitive event of its kind. For the players involved, winning at EVO is akin to winning the Super Bowl: there's just nothing else like it.

That's why it's so important to keep ones composure. True, EVO is held on a huge stage in front of hundreds of gamers (and streamed to thousands more), but keeping a level head is one of the most important things a player can do. Case in point: the semifinals match between Woshige and "the god of Guilty Gear" Ogawa.

Their fight had been one of the most grueling of the entire tournament. Both players made it clear why they're considered to be some of the best in the world. Just as the momentum started to shift toward Ogawa's corner, Woshige managed to make a huge comeback ... and then this happened:

That, dear readers, is why you don't celebrate a victory before the game is over.

Much to Woshige's surprise, his victory over Ogawa was only the second match of three — meaning that the next round was going to start with or without him. Unfortunately for Woshige, it seems like Ogawa wasn't in a forgiving mood: within seconds, Ogawa tore Woshige's unmanned character apart.

Woshige's tournament hopes would never quite recover. While he did continue on to third place, he was eliminated by Nage, who was then eliminated by Ogawa in the Grand Finals.

While some may argue that Ogawa's response (and subsequent win) are unsportsmanlike, the same can be said of Woshige. It was an amazing comeback, sure, but it's probably not a good idea to rub it in, especially when the match isn't over yet.

So, if you've ever wondered why fighting game players look so calm and collected all the time — now you know.
