Although women who write science fiction don't always get the recognition they deserve, this month's Storybundle focuses exclusively on those women who've written some excellent sci-fi novels.

In fact, Storybundle got the idea from one of their curators who often heard that women don't write science fiction. That curator was sci-fi author Kristine Kathryne Rusch, who decided to team up with the company and prove that there are actually quite a few women writing in that genre.

"I did some research and realized that even though women have written sf since the beginning of sci-fi (in fact, you could argue that a woman started the genre. Hats off to you and your Frankenstein monster, Mary Shelley!), women and their fiction never received the press that their male counterparts did," wrote Rusch in a press statement.

The result is Storybundle's latest bundle, which features women who have "written or worked in science fiction for a cumulative 240 years." Each author featured in this bundle has received award nominations, with some having nabbed awards for their work. Their experience ranges from science fiction to space opera to writing Star Trek tie-in novels.

The Women in Science Fiction bundle features the usual "name your own price" Storybundle feature, with $5 getting readers five books: Crossfire by Nancy Kress, Memory by Linda Nagata, Recovering Apollo 8 by Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Near + Far by Cat Rambo and The Phoenix Code by Catherine Asaro.

Readers willing to spend a little more — $15 or higher — get five additional books: Starfarers by Vonda N. McIntyre, The Diving Bundle by Kristine Kathryn Rusch, Forgotten Suns by Judith Tarr, Strong Arm Tactics by Jody Lynn Nye and Stars — The Anthology by edited by Janis Ian and Mike Resnick.

If you're interested in grabbing some curated sci-fi written by women, though, this bundle is only available until the end of the month.

Storybundle, the Humble Bundle for books, also announced a bundle for comic book lovers: The Mystery! Masks! Dynamite Pulps! bundle that features 10 volumes of crime noir comics. That bundle is also available until the end of the month.

As always, with both bundles, Storybundle readers can choose if part of the proceeds from their payment go to charity, including Girls Write Now and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
