Samsung's Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus have officially been announced and now rumors surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 are already beginning to swirl. A new report cites leaked documents directly from the company confirming the device will run Android M and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

Samsung's Unpacked event introduced the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus and consumers and critics alike reacted well to the direct predecessors of the devices, the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S6 Edge, with the Edge winning the crown for the best new device at this year's Mobile World Congress. Samsung is hoping to build on these successes by introducing upgraded versions of each device while also maintaining its newfound fondness of metal and glass design.

Despite the current focus on the two new phablets, rumors are already circulating about the company's next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7. We reported earlier that the device might be ready sooner than expected due to a new smartphone development methodology. Rather than the old "waterfall" method which involved creation of the device from the ground up, one section at a time, Samsung is adapting a new "agile" approach, which instead allows the company to build various aspects of a device separately before ultimately combining them.

Now, a new report cites leaked documents out of Samsung Korea confirming some important aspects of the Galaxy S7, which has been given the code name "Jungfrau." The report claims that Samsung is currently in the "middle testing" stage of device development and that the smartphone will run on Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 820 processor.

The report also confirms that, as expected, the Galaxy S7 will ship running the latest version of Android's operating system, the not yet released Android M, and that Samsung is currently working on a firmware build with Android M v5.2 based on the latest developer previews.
