U-Boat Worx (UBW) recently launched the C-Researcher 3, the world's first transparent submersible with a three-person capacity capable of diving up to 5,577 feet.

Collaborating with leading experts, UBW designed a compact, cost-efficient submersible to enable policy makers, philanthropists and scientists to explore the oceans of the world in safety and comfort, with an ultra-wide field of vision and high-performance controls to facilitate observation. Technologies used in the C-Researcher 3 has been proven before as UBW already uses them in private submersibles the company developed earlier.

To address important ecological issues, scientists turn to submersibles to carry out detailed studies of the world's oceans. It is integral that people get a close-up look at underwater environments. This allows for better observation and the more immediate delivery of information than what is available during unmanned underwater explorations. In fact, this is the first time that a spherical acrylic pressure hull like the one the C-Researcher 3 is using is being taken to the depth mentioned.

"Those lucky few diving our C-Researcher will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of a rich and diverse underwater scenery," assured Bert Houtman, UBW founder.

Advances in design materials and software paved the way for UBW to create compact dimensions with limited weight without compromising quality. Unlike traditional submarines used for research that are normally restricted by controls from a larger mother vessel, the C-Researcher 3 is capable of being operated through a wider range of vessels, including a superyacht. To facilitate delivery and minimize mobilization time, the submersible can be transported inside a shipping container.

Numerous safety features as well as redundant systems are in place to guarantee the C-Researcher 3 and its occupants (1 pilot and 2 passengers) are safe. Additionally, DNV-GL, an independent classification authority, oversaw the development, construction and trial of each C-Researcher 3 submersible to be released to ensure quality assurance.

Different research groups have different focuses so they have different needs. UBW made the C-Researcher 3 in such a way that it can accommodate a wide array of tools for various purposes, from collecting samples to mapping marine surfaces in 3D, ensuring that researchers have what they need once inside the submersible to carry out what they have to.
