One Direction fans are losing their minds today after it was revealed that the group will be taking a break in March of next year to focus on their individual solo careers.

This is not a permanent hiatus according to the group, but we beg to differ since all members will be focusing on their solo music careers. It means that should one or more become successful, it will be difficult to return as One Direction in 2017.

According to Sony Music Entertainment, each member has interests they were never able to pursue due to their commitment to the band, so this hiatus will give them the opportunity to do that.

It is also said that because the band is splitting on good terms, it would be easier for them to form up again in the years to come.

Former member, Zayn Malik, left the band earlier this year to focus on his solo act, but up to this point, we have yet to hear anything of worth from him. Like all boy bands that have broken apart in the past, we suspect that only one member will make it to the big times.

At the moment, all current members are around the age of 21, so it is no surprise they would want to go their own way for a while to see what the world has to offer where a solo music career is concerned.

One member is also on the verge of becoming a father, so there is another reason One Direction is slowly being phased out as each member go their own direction. See what we did there?

The band is planning to release one final album before the hiatus. It is expected to hit store shelves in January of 2016, just a few months before March. We're not sure if the band will have time for a world tour to promote the new album, or even if that's in the cards at all.

For now, let's just hope no fan of the group does something stupid.
