Speculation for Game of Thrones season six is running rampant, in large part because fans no longer know where the story is going. The show has passed the events of George R.R. Martin's book series, and without the next installment (which Martin hopes to release before the season six premiere) to pave the way, fans simply don't know what to expect.

Most, however, do expect one thing: Jon Snow. Though the character seemingly met his end in the finale of season five, most fans have a hard time believing the character is truly dead. Not only are there numerous fan theories that require Jon Snow to be alive, but actor Kit Harington has been spotted numerous times on the set of season six.

What isn't known is to what extend Jon will return, but a recent sighting of Harington on set may provide some clues.

Spoilers below! Turn back now if you don't want season six spoiled!

You have been warned.

According to the Game of Thrones superfans over at Watchers on the Wall, the show is currently filming a "massive battle" in Northern Ireland that will likely make up part of season six's episode nine. Those who have watched the show will know that the tail end of nearly every season has featured a major battle, starting with the Battle of Blackwater Bay in season two all the way up to Hardhome last season.

Looks like season six may continue this trend. Sources tell the fansite that the battle will involve the Boltons, the Umbers, wildlings and various other northern houses. The Umbers, it should be noted, haven't been seen for a long time. In the books, Greatjon Umber is one of Robb Stark's greatest allies and is taken prisoner after the Red Wedding. It certainly sounds like the North hasn't forgotten the Bolton's betrayal. Perhaps Ramsay and Roose will finally get what has been coming to them.

What's most interesting is that Harington was spotted on the scene. Whether he is a participant in the battle or has some other connection is unclear, but it definitely seems like we haven't seen the last of Jon Snow.

We can only hope that The Winds of Winter will release before season six so we can finally figure out what the heck is going on. In the meantime, be sure to read up on these Game of Thrones fan theories that might just come true.
