Michael Baxter of Australia holds the record for number of characters from The Simpsons tattooed on his body.

He has 203 of them, all on his back and all in full color. The officials at the Guinness Book of World Records have awarded Baxter, a 52-year-old grandfather, the official record for "Most tattoos of characters from a single animated series."

That alone is impressive enough, but get a load of this: He got all 203 tattoos in a single year. This little investment set him back about $8.5k U.S. dollars (in his native Australian dollars, it was about $12,000). Tattoo artist Jade Baxter-Smith — undoubtedly a relative, probably his daughter — spent 130 hours working on Baxter's tattoos. That's five and a half days.

The tattoos, seen in the pictures on this page, include every major character from The Simpsons as well as a ton of supporting characters and a few locations, like the Simpsons' living room, Homer's nuclear power plant job site and Moe's Tavern.

In order to comply with Guinness' standards, Baxter's ink had to depict the characters exactly the way they appear in the animated series — down to the specific episode that each character's appearance and pose was taken from. Baxter had to be able to supply all of this information to be awarded the record.

With over 200 characters to choose from, who does Michael Baxter say is his favorite?

Homer Simpson, d'oh!
