Microsoft's Xbox One might be losing out to the PlayStation 4 when it comes to actual sales, but according to data gathered on Facebook, it appears the Xbox One could gain some momentum on its home turf.

According to Movoto, a video gaming based website that came up with the information, gamers on Facebook seem to speak more about the Xbox One than the PlayStation 4. In fact, 559,999 persons on Facebook talk about the Xbox One, though we are unable to see how Movoto concluded that.

From what we've come to understand, the data was based on the amount of Facebook likes the Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 has in each state. As it stands, most states seem to prefer the Xbox One, or just talk more about the Xbox One.

"What's really interesting is that Xbox One, with a few exceptions, seems more popular on each of the coasts, while PS4 has created a strong following in the heartland," Movoto reported. "It's clear Xbox One has a solid fan base in bigger states, such as California, New York, and Texas."

Now, what Movoto has done is quite interesting and should not be taken as scientific. It appears to show that Microsoft's social media campaign has been a success, but why isn't the console blowing up in sales? We believe it has a lot to do with the $500 price tag, so expect things to change now that there's a cheaper SKU available for $399.

As for the Wii U, well, it didn't come out on top in any state, and this should be a huge concern for Nintendo. The console has slipped from being number one to being in second place in quick succession, which is very surprising since the Wii U was first to market by a full year.

The new 'console wars' is very important to gamers. Chances are they take it as more of an importance than the manufacturers themselves due to certain online actions. This little data revealed by Movoto should cause some interesting debates all over the web, and we're certain most of these confrontations won't be a pretty sight.
