Next week's episode of Gotham will introduce yet another new face to the show this season: Captain Nathaniel Barnes. It's always exciting to see what a new character will bring to your favorite TV shows, but Barnes' arrival on Gotham is especially welcome because it'll be a chance to see Michael Chiklis back on a police force, having famously played Detective Vic Mackey for seven seasons on The Shield.

It looks like Barnes will waste no time when he steps up to be the new leader of the GCPD. He'll be the latest person to try and clean up Gotham, which we all know is easier said than done. Next week's episode of the show will see Barnes organizing a special task force with the help of Jim Gordon to take down the villains of the city.

However, the Penguin has other plans. In the promo, we see the character's usual jovial and unhinged self getting his minions together to rule Gotham once and for all.

But little does the Penguin know that he is Public Enemy No.1 for Barnes, which means the new captain wants to take down this crime lord once and for all. Now I can't imagine Gotham without the Penguin, so I would be surprised if this was the last we saw of him, but it should be an interesting conflict nonetheless.
