First things first: in case you didn't know, Steam is currently holding a sale.

Second, the reason why you were probably unaware is because is not just any sale—it's a stealth sale.

The Steam Stealth Sale allows you to save up to 90 percent on selected titles. Make sure to check it out soon enough, though, because the sale only runs until Oct. 16, 10 am PDT.

For games that you've always wanted to try out, but turned out to be over the budget, now would be a good time to do so. This isn't the biggest sale in the history of Steam, but there are definitely a couple of good deals to be had, like Outlast, which is now available for $5 (from $10). You can also avail of Far Cry 4 for $33 (from $40), Far Cry 3 for $7 (from $20), Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for $4 (from $14), Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 2: Fortuner's Edition for $2 (from $9) each.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is up for grabs at $10 (from $20), while Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is marked down to $7, Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed is available for $5 (from $10) each, while Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry, the standalone game, is priced at $4 (from $14).

The Thief series is also on sale, with Thief II, Thief: Gold and Thief: Deadly Shadows available at $2 (from $6) each, and the Thief 2014 release at $7 (from $20). Gunpoint (from $9) and Monaco (from $14) are both down to $2, while Death to Spies is priced at $1 (from $5).

Though Steam's sale has managed to sneak up on us, "stealth" not only refers to the sale's strategy, but also to the nature of more than 60 titles that are up for grabs. Majority of the titles allow the player to remain undetected by hiding, using disguises and avoiding noise. Thieve, assassins, spies, Special Forces ops are common protagonists in these games, while rogue, espionage and counter-terrorism are the usual themes.

Head over to the Steam store to check out more titles under the Steam Stealth Sale.
