Most techies think of smartphones when Xiaomi comes into debate, but it appears that the company is involved in much more than building high-technology phones.

This year, the China-based producer's activity involved the launch of an air purifier, phablet, smartphone, fitness tracker and small scale. But the real challenge in terms of added value came from the two new-gen smart TVs, the Mi TV and Mi TV 2.

Today, the company took the opportunity at a press conference to announce that, even if fans of the Mi 5 flagship will have to wait a bit longer, other consumers of Xiaomi can rejoice: the third generation of smart TVs is on its way.

The 60-inch display offered by the Xiaomi Mi TV 3 comes with a sleek and refined design. This means that the thickness varies between 0.45 in and 1.44 in, from the thinnest to thickest part. It supports a LG 4K panel, with a color gamut of NTSC 85%. Sports enthusiasts will be happy to know that the Mi TV 3 comes with MEMC motion compression, meaning that dynamic movements will be smooth and fast. Television relies on sound as much as image and Xiaomi equipped the smart TV with 2.5-inch mid-range subwoofers. The four embedded subwoofers guarantee a deep bass and crisp sound.

"Mi TV 3 is comprised of 2 separated parts: the display and main board. They can be upgraded respectively. Your TV will never ever become outdated," the official Xiaomi website promises.

The electronics producer announced Mi TV 2 in 2014, which had a 49-inch display. A more affordable model, costing only $320, was presented in March 2015. The smaller price also meant that the new TV model brought a smaller, 40-inch screen.

This raises the question of how much buyers will be set back after the purchase of the 60-inch 4K Mi TV 3, and the producer answered that as well. The right price for it is 4,999 Yuan in China, which is about $786. The size and advanced hardware of the device make it considerably more expensive than former variants, but at the same time cheaper than the direct competitors.

No information is available on the release date for China, but Xiaomi hinted that it works to bring the Mi TV 3 in Chinese stores as fast as possible.
