The newest "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" trailer has left some of us with even more questions about what the new trilogy will have in store. Who exactly are Finn and Rey? Who is Kylo Ren and how did he know Darth Vader? And where is Luke?

Dec. 18 seems to be so very far, far away.

But even though Disney pretty much scrapped the entire "Star Wars" Expanded Universe of novels and comic books when it acquired LucasArts and announced the new trilogy would be made, we have seen enough hints to say that we might be seeing some elements from the decades of now Legend canon make its way into the new films or at least influenced them.

Here are some of our best guesses of what might be in store when “The Force Awakens” finally hits theatres based on the images in the new trailer and what we know from the Expanded Universe.

Princess Leia

In another blink-and-you'll miss her moment, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia is in the new trailer. In the previous trailer, she was the ringed hand receiving the light saber, as confirmed in a behind-the-scenes clip revealed at NYCC. This time, she's seen giving Han Solo a tender embrace with a troubled look in her eyes.

In the Expanded Universe, Leia and Han Solo got married and their twin son and daughter, Jacen and Jaina, feature prominently in many of the novels. They also had a third child who they named after his grandfather, Anakin.

Although both of the Skywalker-Solo twins became Jedi, Jacen, unfortunately, sided with the Dark Side to become Darth Caedus.

Many are speculating that Rey will turn out to be a Force sensitive relative of the Skywalkers – perhaps even the daughter of Leia and Han. Some are also speculating that the story line of Kylo Ren could also be inspired by Jacen's fall to the Dark Side to follow his grandfather's footsteps as played out in “The Legacy of The Force.”

Luke Skywalker

Like his sister, Luke Skywalker also got hitched in the Expanded Universe. Although his bride was originally hunting him down to assassinate him as the Hand of The Emperor with a psychic connection to her master, Mara Jade eventually became Luke's wife.

Some observers have noted that Rey's costume seems to be heavily influenced by the character of Mara Jade as depicted in the Dark Horse comics. Albeit, missing Mara's red hair and affinity for tight, black leather.

Her look and seemingly rebellious nature from what we've been shows so far in the trailers has led many to think that instead of being the offspring of Leia and Han, perhaps she is the daughter of Luke and fiery Mara.

FYI, Luke and Mara had a son named Ben Skywalker.

Chewbacca

Chewbacca's presence in the newest trailer means that he is still alive and well, at least for the time being. For those not in the know of the events in the Expanded Universe, the lovable, grunting, walking carpet met his demise more than 20 years ago in the "Star Wars" novels as he was trapped on a bug-infested planet that was crushed by its own moon.

His death was seen by many fans as unnecessary and many are happy to see at least this element of the Legend canon not being adopted by Disney. However, with his arms up in surrender alongside buddy, Han Solo and newcomer Finn, could this mean something foul might still befall our Wookie friend?
