Sony Bravia TV Sets To Get YouView Seven-Day Scroll-Back And 17,000 Movies And TV Shows

In February, Sony and YouView announced a partnership where the latter's TV platform will be integrated with the 2015 Bravia lineup. This time, the pair announced that the alternative to Android TV is rolling out on Nov. 4, Wednesday, to UK consumers.

Originally, the update was meant to go official in the summer, but it seems that things didn't go without a hitch. It doesn't matter, though, as YouView will be landing on Sony Bravia TVs in a few weeks' time.

On Android-connected Sony Bravia TVs, the YouView update will offer access to an extensive range of services, including BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, All 4 and Demand 5. In total, customers will get over 17,000 films and shows when it launches. This marks the first time that YouView merges with a TV maker to deliver improved TV-watching services in the U.K.

YouView aims to make TV viewing as best as possible. With the Search function, users will be able to search for titles of shows and films, actors and directors quickly. On top of that, the Discover feature will let users explore new content categorized by genre, popularity or release date.

What makes YouView unique from the competition is its catch-up services and scroll-back feature, which allow viewers to go back to content in the past seven days. This means that customers will never miss their favorite shows.

"It will offer everything you'd expect from YouView including our iconic seamless and easy to use TV guide, giving customers simple access to the live and catch up TV they love," Richard Halton, CEO of YouView, said in a news release.

The upcoming TV platform will roll out live on air and will automatically update compatible Sony Bravia TVs.
