Assassin's Creed has always been known for its gadgets. The hidden blade quickly became one of the most iconic weapons in gaming, and over the past eight years, fans have used it to hunt down all manner of virtual Templar. If you're looking for something newer, there's always the rope launcher: introduced in Assassin's Creed Syndicate, it basically serves as an all-purpose grappling hook and zip line. Just look up and hit the button, and you'll be scaling buildings in no time.

The only real problem with gadgets like this is that they don't exist in the real world. Let's be honest: it would only be a matter of time before someone cut their own hand with the hidden blade, or fell off the side of a building trying to use the rope launcher. Even without the looming threat to personal safety, there's no way that a grappling hook or wrist-mounted blade would ever work in reality...or is there?

YouTuber Colin Furze is no stranger to building bizarre gadgets, and Assassin's Creed isn't his first foray into pop culture weaponization. Even so, his latest creations - a working hidden blade and rope launcher - are arguably some of his best works yet:

Honestly, it doesn't matter if you're a fan of Assassin's Creed or not - who wouldn't want to own a fully-functional grappling hook?

Truth be told, Furze's grappling hook isn't quite as graceful as Syndicate's rope launcher, but it's hard to argue with the results. As the video clearly demonstrates, Furze's build actually works - now all that's left to do is start mass-producing them, and then everyone can have their very own grappling hook!

As for the hidden blade...given how well it works during the video, maybe it's best to keep that out of most people's hands.
