A new experience for Chromebooks is coming: the "App Mall," which delivers a new platform for Google PCs and offers a one-stop shop for apps dedicated to the system. 

This new app distribution platform offers various applications, games, and access to the Play Store, giving ChromeOS users a chance to get their apps in one place instead of scouring online for them. 

This new app marketplace is finally coming. It was recently discovered and enabled via Chrome Canary's latest build, which took a long time before Google provided one.

Chrome 'App Mall': Dedicated App Platform for Google PCs

'App Mall' is the next big thing coming to ChromeOS-powered devices, a.k.a. Chromebooks, centering on a dedicated app platform recently discovered by Chrome Unboxed. 

Found in the latest ChromeOS 126's Canary build, with the chrome://flags/#cros-mall code, and the report claimed that turning it on would enable the App Mall to be accessible on the PC. 

Upon activation, the App Mall will be pinned to the bottom shelf of icons alongside other apps, such as Chrome and other set apps on the bar. 

It is essentially an app distribution platform dedicated to Chromebooks. It offers applications, games, and more that can be downloaded depending on the device's compatibility.

What can you expect from Chromebook's App Mall?

While similar to the Google Play Store, it is made especially for ChromeOS. This means that users no longer have to resort to web, online, and third-party platforms to find available Chromebook apps.

Additionally, it has a dedicated Play Store button that takes users to the main Google app marketplace should they wish to see the apps offered there. 

Chrome and the Google PCs

Throughout the years, Google has proven that it is a tech company that can deliver various user experiences, from self-made smartphones and their chips to computers that feature its proprietary ChromeOS.

 The system has undergone massive upgrades, but among those was the 'Material You' redesign last year, which gave it more Windows 11-esque features. 

It is also worth owning a Chromebook if your main focus is on business or work. Recently, Google has been exploring the idea of a Gaming Chromebook that could add performance and capabilities to handle massive tasks. 

That said, Google also promised that Chromebooks would receive 8 to 10 years of support after the initial fiasco over their 'expiration dates.'

With Google stepping up in the world of PCs and computers, Chromebooks will soon see a feature that allows them to get apps without resorting to third-party platforms. 

The App Mall will allow ChromeOS users to explore apps, games, and other downloadables on their PCs and offer the Play Store alongside it.
