Fox released a brand-new promo for the upcoming return of The X-Files during Monday night's episode of Gotham that gave fans a first look at the faces of the monsters that will be featured in the six-episode series.

Titled "They're Coming," we learn that FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) join forces again to take on another case—one that has "a monster in it."

The official synopsis provided by Fox is as follows:

The upcoming event series will encompass a mixture of stand-alone episodes and those that further the original show's seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee.

In the promo, we are introduced to a man with a disfigured face in the stairway, followed by a scene where someone is dragging out two bodies. Fans are then given a quick montage of some of the other monsters, such as someone whose eyes turn red, a teen who has the ability to shatter glass, and other deformed characters. There are creepy kids, explosions, people flying through the air—pretty much everything we want to see in the return of the popular sci-fi series.

"This is dangerous," Scully tells her partner in the promo.

"When has that stopped up before," Mulder responds through a smirk.

Yes, it's good to see this team back together again, even if it's just for a six-episode event. Returning for the first time in 13 years, series creator Chris Carter will write and direct three episodes of the latest chapter of The X-Files, with the remaining episodes written and directed by Glen Morgan, Darin Morgan and James Wong.

Along with the trend of Duchovny and Anderson, Mitch Pileggi will also return as FBI assistant director Walter Skinner and William B. Davis will reprise his role as "The Smoking Man."

The X-Files premieres at 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, on FOX. The two-night event continues at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25.
