Each month, 144 billion minutes of gaming video content are either uploaded or streamed through YouTube, and the numbers would rise even more if portals like Twitch were added. However, sitting in front of a PC and grinding on games for hours just isn't ideal for busy people always on the go. Thus, in the recent years, as smartphone technology got better, more and more people have engaged in online mobile games.

People have a plethora of titles available to them on mobile platforms — from casual games to turn-based strategy games and RPGs. And with the growing communities within the mobile gaming sector, the Android team decided to introduce a new feature in the Google Play Games app that will allow mobile gamers to record their gameplay and share it with the rest of the community.

"In the Play Games app, select any game you want to play, then tap the record button," explains Duncan Curtis, Product Manager of Google Play Games. "You can capture your gameplay in 720p or 480p, and choose to add video of yourself and commentary via your device's front facing camera and microphone."

The captured videos can then be edited and uploaded to YouTube.

The Android Team encourages people to upload their videos for every mobile game running on Android — Clash of Clans, Agar.io, Minecraft: Pocket Edition and so on. Moreover, if the community likes their content well enough, gamers sharing their gameplay and doing commentaries can become "the next big thing" on YouTube gaming, just like TobyGames and VanossGaming.

Needless to say, as more content gets uploaded, Mountain View gets to make more revenue from advertisers. Furthermore, this is a direct recruitment for future YouTube partners that will provide quality content and have a slice of that juicy YouTube pie.

The Play Games app feature will be first be deployed in the U.S. and U.K. in the coming days. The rest of the world will follow afterwards.
