We're only days away until the long-awaited return of Lara Croft.

Her 2013 reboot adventure, Tomb Raider, redefined the iconic character for a new generation of hardware — and more sophisticated gamers. Ditching the giant boobs and tiny shorts, Lara was given real-world proportions and far more pulse-pounding cinematic adventures. In short, Lara gave Nathan Drake a run for his money.

Where Tomb Raider focused on Lara's journey into becoming the hardened survivalist we all know her to be, its sequel brings us a fully-formed Lara who's ready to take on globe-trotting adventures, take out bad guys with confidence, and yes, raid some tombs.

Crystal Dynamics has released a launch trailer for the game that focuses more on the story than anything seen thus far. Basically, Lara discovers what may be the key to finishing her late father's life's work, which was related to the search for immortality. The trailer also reveals the evil organization that's out to stop her, and shows off several of the dangerous locales around the world that Lara and her pal Jonah (from the first game) jet off to.

We have to reserve judgment until playing the game, but Tomb Raider set the bar very high. Crystal Dynamics is smart enough to know this, and the trailer at least looks like the sequel could surpass the original.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed exclusive on Xbox One and Xbox 360, with a release date of Nov. 10, 2015. Windows PC is expected to follow early in the new year, with PlayStation 4 users finally getting their hands on it around a full year after Xbox users.
