For those anxious to find out the story behind Fallout 4, you're in luck, at least sort of. Today sees the release of the game's launch trailer, which reveals new details about its plot and shows off what gameplay looks like.

This new trailer makes a few mentions of key story details, including the synths, which are some sort of androids that look like men and women, but aren't. It seems that there are some prejudices against these creatures, too, particularly considering that someone in the trailer says, "I have a question: the only question that matters. Would you risk your life for your fellow man, even if that man is a synth?"

The trailer also brings up "The Institute," an organization briefly mentioned in previous Fallout games. The Institute is actually MIT ( Massachusetts Institute of Technology), located in Boston, the setting for Fallout 4. The technology coming out of The Institute is advanced, and includes AI, which means that it's responsible for the synths players will see in Fallout 4.

But what else is The Institute capable of? In Fallout 3, Dr. Zimmer tells the player the following:

"The Commonwealth itself is nothing but a war-ravaged quagmire of violence and despair. Inside the sealed environment of the Institute, however... But... the Institute's affairs are none of your concern. Your undeveloped mind couldn't even begin to comprehend what we've accomplished."

The trailer also features in-game footage of the nuclear war that created the world of Fallout in the first place. Later, another character refers to the protagonist as a "man out of time," suggesting that the player takes on the role of a character who comes out of the vault not too long after the war ended. Of course, this is all still a mystery, and Bethesda continues to state that it won't release plot details about the game until its launch.

"I would be stunned if we said anything else about the story ever again [prior to launch]," said Pete Hines, Bethesda's Vice President of PR and marketing to IGN. "We're going to let everybody experience that in the game as much as possible. But there are certain trade-offs you have to make to build some amount of awareness to what the game is offering, so you're willing to make some sacrifices."

So although Fallout 4's launch trailer gives a few details away, it's not enough to say for certain that the game is about anything teased in the new trailer. However, gamers will find out more on November 10, when it releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Meanwhile, there's still a little time left to pre-order Fallout 4 and take advantage of some pre-order bonuses.
