Sony launches a new video that showcases the upcoming PlayStation VR for the PS4.

The video shows the unit from all angles, but it also describes the headset's hardware specifications. Without further ado, let's go straight for the specs. Based on the footage, the PlayStation VR will sport a 5.7-inch OLED display with a 1,920 x RGB x 1,080 resolution, which is 960 x RGB x 1,080 per eye.

Moving forward, it will also have a 120Hz refresh rate, both an accelerometer and a gyroscope, 3D lens, positional tracking with nine LEDs and 360-degree head tracking and an approximately 100-degree field of view. It will also deliver a super low latency at 18 ms. On top of those, it comes with an HDMI and USB interface as well as 3D audio with mic and stereo input jacks.

Take note that it can also stream the game on both the headset and TV so that no one will be left out.

"Get other players involved. PlayStation VR creates two sets of images: one for the headset and one for a TV, so everyone can join in," Sony says on the PlayStation VR page.

If you're a fan of horror games, then you're in luck, as a spine-chilling title is set to launch for the PS4. It's called White Day: A Labyrinth Named School, and it's by Korean developer ROI Games. Even Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony's Worldwide Studios, waits in anticipation for the game, calling it a "cool-looking PlayStation VR title."

The PlayStation VR is slated for release in the first half of 2016, according to the video. Setting aside the vague release date, Sony didn't mention any price for the headset yet, but it's believed to almost cost as much as a gaming console.

It seems that the age of virtual reality gaming is near, as the Oculus Rift headset and the HTC Vive are also about to go official.
