The highly-anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone powerhouse will reportedly debut on Dec. 3, rocking Qualcomm's high-end Snapdragon 820 mobile processor.

The year is nearly over, but we have yet to see some of the most rumored and hyped devices of 2015. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is one of them, as it starred in numerous rumors so far without actually making its formal debut.

If the latest leak turns out to be accurate, the wait will soon be over. Trusted tipster LeaksFly took to Weibo to reveal that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will become official on Dec. 3. Moreover, the tipster also mentions the Snapdragon 820 processor, which is widely expected to power Xiaomi's next flagship.

Qualcomm already confirmed its upcoming Snapdragon 820 and revealed several exciting features, while also highlighting that its new high-end processor will not have any overheating issues. Despite this confirmation, the Snapdragon 820 has yet to make its official debut. Qualcomm is expected to formally introduce the Snapdragon 820 later this month.

If the Xiaomi Mi 5 will indeed arrive on Dec. 3 with a Snapdragon 820 processor under the hood, it would make sense for Qualcomm to introduce the chipset beforehand.

When it comes to rumored specs for the Xiaomi Mi 5, the smartphone is shaping up as a powerful device with a pressure-sensitive display and a fingerprint scanner among the highlights.

Other rumored specifications include a 5.3-inch QHD display (1,440 x 2,560 pixels, 554 ppi), Adreno 540 graphics, 4 GB of RAM, 16 GB or 64 GB internal storage configurations, a 16-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, and a 3,030 mAh battery. The smartphone may not have microSD support for expandable storage.

It's also worth pointing out that the purported Dec. 3 debut likely refers to the unveiling, but the Xiaomi Mi 5 may not hit retail until 2016.

Keep in mind, however, that it's all in the rumor state at this point, as Xiaomi has yet to make announcements regarding its highly-anticipated Mi 5 smartphone. As always in such cases, make sure to take all leaks and reports with a healthy dose of skepticism.
