Livestreaming has been growing in popularity a lot of late, and with one of the most popular livestreaming apps, Periscope, today made some updates to how its app works.

The company updated the app with one of users' top requests — the ability to rewind and fast-forward through broadcasts.

Android users will be able long-press on a video being replayed, which will shrink down the video into a miniature version. After that, users can simply drag their finger back and forth to go forward or backward in the video. On the Web, at any time during the broadcast, users can click on the scrubber bar to go forward or backward in the video.

The feature is not yet available for iOS users, however, the company says that it will roll out to iOS users in the next week or so. Users will find the new feature particularly helpful given the fact that most broadcasts aren't that exciting for the first 15 to 20 seconds, with the broadcaster waiting for users to join in the broadcast.

Periscope, which is owned by Twitter, is perhaps the most popular live broadcasting app, with its main competitor being Meerkat. Periscope has around two million active users who check the app every day, with users currently watching around 40 years of video every single day.

The update has rolled out to around half of the Android users who have the app, and the rest will get it in the near future.
