As the holidays draw closer, more and more great deals are coming out. One of the hottest ones available at the moment is the first generation Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch, which is listed at the Google Store for less than $100.

The original Moto 360 was first released in September 2014 and introduced to the market with a $250 price tag. However, with the release of the second generation (Moto 360 2015), it has gone down in price. In the recent months, it dipped below $150. Now, another $50 has been slashed off the price and Google PlayStore lists for only $99.

For a third of the money that will be spent on the current gen, which was introduced at $300, consumers can enjoy a Motorola smartwatch. Note that even with the great price disparity, the first gen Moto 360 has almost the same innards as its successor. The original sports the same 1.56-inch flat tire IPS display, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, wireless charging capability, operating system (Android Wear), Android and iOS compatibility, heart rate monitor and even the same IP67 water resistance rating as the newer version.

The only points where the Moto 360 2015 beats the original are the native display resolution, battery, availability of the always-on display and the quick-release band feature. The SoC also differ with the TI OMAP 3 single-core chip, which is clocked at 1 GHz for the first gen and the Snapdragon 400, a quad-core chip clocked at 1.2 GHz, for the current generation.

Sure, the original will be a little bit more laggy and sluggish compared to the newer version but at $99, it is quite tempting. If you're looking for good value on a wearable that will allow you to quickly check notifications while sporting a neoclassical look, this is the timepiece for you.

Two color combinations, either silver or gray or full black, will be available when purchasing a first generation Moto 360 from the Google Store.
