Looks like the Beygency will be pleased. The nominations for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards were announced Thursday and Beyoncé racked up more nominations than any other artist. The 32-year-old artist scored 8 nominations, including video of the year, best female, best collaboration and best choreography.

Closely following with seven nods each, are Eminem and Iggy Azalea. Eminem earned nominations in categories such as best hip-hop, best male and best collaboration. Meanwhile, newcomer Iggy Azalea will be competing against Beyoncé in categories such as best video the year, best female and best collaboration.

The nominees were announced by MTV Thursday morning through eight Snapchat videos. The 10-second videos feature cameos from various celebrities.

"We could have used one person to announce all of them but this is really going to buy us a lot of reach," Tom Fishman, vice president of content marketing and fan engagement, told Mashable.

Seeing as MTV is still fairly new to Snapchat, this tactic was a smart way to attract more followers and experiment with how to use the social media platform for advertising purposes.

The winners of the nominations will be revealed during the live telecast from Los Angeles on Aug. 24 at 9 p.m. EDT. Ariana Grande, Usher and 5 Seconds of Summer have been announced as some of the performers. No word yet if any of them will be sporting foam fingers or teddy bear onesies à la Miley Cyrus' notorious opening performance last year.
