Samsung Android Marshmallow Update Roadmap Leaks: Here's When Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge+, S6 And Other Galaxy Devices Will Receive Android 6.0

Samsung is yet to officially announce when its devices are getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, but the information was reportedly leaked online.

Following the OS release in August, a number of smartphone makers confirmed the list of devices and the timeframe of the Android Marshmallow update. Some of these devices are from Motorola, HTC, Huawei and Sony.

Luckily for Samsung owners, it seems like they are also getting the latest OS version at least towards the end of the year, as stated by the leaked information. The leak showed that the update will come in two phases, with most of the devices included in the first phase already approved.

For the first phase of the Android 6.0 update, devices such as the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ were approved for the update to be released in December 2015. Also included in the first phase are devices such as Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge (January 2016), Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge (February 2016). On the other hand, Galaxy S5 and Alpha are still waiting for approval.

The second phase of the Android 6.0 update listed at least 6 devices from Samsung. These include the Galaxy A8, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A3, Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E5. All the devices are still waiting for approval with no indication of the release date for the Android 6.0 update so far.

Based on the leaked information, it also goes to show that the first devices getting the update are Samsung's latest handsets, the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+. In a previous Tech Times report, it was rumored that Samsung seemed to be preparing a huge update for its current flagships. These include devices such as the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Note 5 and the S6 Edge+.

All of these current flagships are said to be running on Android OS version 5.1.1 Lollipop which makes them eligible to receive the Android Marshmallow OS.

There is a possibility that Samsung will release a third phase of the update after the second phase pushed through. The third phase might cover devices such as the Note 4 Duos, the Galaxy S6 Duos and the Galaxy Tab A.
