The Samsung Galaxy A9 is one of the latest smartphones coming from the South Korean giant. Over the past several months, several tidbits were leaked, but this time around, we have something concrete.

Hard evidence from a benchmark on GeekBench shows that the Samsung Galaxy A9 with model number SM-A9000, is rocking a Snapdragon 620 processor. The chipset is not as powerful when compared to the Snapdragon 810, but despite that, it is no slouch either.

The chipset comes with four Cortex A53 cores and four Cortex A72 cores. It also acquired a benchmark of 1446 points for just a single core, and 4134 points for multicore. The speed of the processor is just 1.40 GHz, which is not bad for most people. The benchmark also shows the device having around 2758MB of RAM, and is powered by Android 5.1.1 from the get-go.

At the moment, it is not yet certain if this handset will ever be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow considering it is on the mid-end to low-end aspect of the spectrum.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 was first mentioned back in March of this year in a trademark filling. In September, another Samsung device with similar specifications was listed, and then it later made an appearance on AnTuTu benchmark database.

On AnTuTu, the device is said to have a 5.5-inches display with a maximum resolution of 1920x1080. No idea on the type of camera, but here it says the RAM is around 3GB and the internal storage is 32GB.

On the matter of the GPU, this device could be powered by an Adreno 510.

When it comes down to the release date of the Samsung Galaxy A9, we have to put a bet on 2016 since the handset has yet to skimp through FCC testing.
