Deezer announced the release of a new family plan in a bid to get more people to sign up for its music streaming services. The new plan allows up to six people to share a Premium+ account for a monthly fee of €14.99 ($16).

"Deezer Family" starts in France, and the first to enjoy it will be the clients of mobile carrier Orange. By paying an extra €5 ($5.30) a month, existing customers who own a Premium+ account can upgrade their subscription and gain access to the family plan.

The offer allows up to six members of the same family to create separate profiles on the main account, which allows them to listen to more than 40,000 podcasts and 35 million songs.

"We cannot wait to share Dezeer Family with the world, and are excited to be starting the rollout in France just in time for Christmas," said Alexis de Gemini, Managing Director of Deezer France.

The MD went on to point out that having up to six profiles linked to only one account is a good way to offer more people the music that they love, while maintaining a custom experience for each listener. For example, the unique account can host a children's songs profile and a heavy metal profile at the same time, to be enjoyed at appropriate times by different members of the family.

"We know how popular shared family plans are with our customers in France," Orange France's Director of Entertainment and New Uses, Christian Bombrun, explained. He underlined that Deezer is the best partner for this sort of deal and Orange is "excited" to cooperate with it.

Bombrun acknowledges that the digital needs and trends are constantly shifting, meaning that for carrier companies to stay competitive, they must work closely with partners who can deliver high-quality user experiences. According to his statements, this is exactly what the partnership between Orange and Deezer aims to accomplish.

The 35+ million tracks from Deezer can be streamed on any device, be it a smartphone, tablet or computer. Having the entire music that you are interested in in one place is handy, as it is taking it with you wherever you go. You may even craft customized playlists and follow the artists that inspire you.

The Deezer Family Plan will reach other countries as well in the following months.
