Bandai Namco announced the highly anticipated game Dark Souls III is officially set for April 12, 2016.

The video game publisher made the announcement in a new, fast-paced trailer titled "Darkness Has Spread," which showcases footage of the gameplay.

The game's developer From Software also released a new video that shows even more gameplay footage, including new areas and enemies. The video shows the player running toward a castle as he tries to dodge spears that are being thrown by some enemy off in the distance. Gamers also get a look at a new, open courtyard that includes trees that shape-shift into massive enemy for a boss fight.

Bandai Namco also revealed two special editions for Dark Souls III available for preorder now. The Day One Edition available in the U.S. will include Dark Souls III software, a starter guide, an official soundtrack and exclusive O-Sleeve packaging, the flexible case that is open on both ends. This edition retails for $59.99.

The Collector's Edition will include the game, starter guide, soundtrack, official art book, cloth game map and a 10-inch red knight statue that is packaged in a collector's box. This edition retails for $129.99 in the U.S.

Dark Souls III will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC when its released on April 12.
