Photo leaks of the much anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5 have surfaced online, revealing a smaller display and a physical home button.

Numerous renders have been popping up lately, where one of the images seems like a promotional photo that leaves quite a bit to the imagination. After a short while, another render of the flagship's front made rounds on the Internet, which first unveiled the coming of a physical home button, suggesting that Qualcomm's UltraSonic Fingerprint Scanner was scrapped from the design.

This time, yet another leak came up, bringing in two close-up images: one showed the front, and the other showed the screen removed.

Taking a look at the photos, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will apparently sport rounded corners and a 5-inch display, which is slightly smaller than the 5.2-inch measurement expected before. If the leak is accurate, then the physical home button is confirmed, where a traditional fingerprint scanner is believed to be positioned under as opposed to the ultrasonic variant.

It's also worth mentioning that the Mi 5 could feature an all-metal body and that it will retain the capacitive touch keys found on the Mi 4, the smartphone's predecessor.

As for the hardware specifications, the Mi 5 is reportedly going to house a Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm's recently premiered chipset, and 4 GB worth of RAM. There's a chance that the handset will have a 64 GB internal storage and a USB Type-C interface as well. Also, it might be fitted with a 16 MP rear-facing camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera.

According to GizmoChina, the Mi 5 is also going to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based on Xiaomi's MIUI OS out of the box.

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5, which CEO Lei Jun describes as "worth the wait," has no official release date yet, but GizmoChina says the handset will be available in gold, silver and rose gold variants.
