Since the release of "The Avengers," fans have known that there was one big, cosmic mastermind pulling many of the strings that run through the Marvel cinematic universe. That uber-villain's name is Thanos, and he was glimpsed briefly in a post-credits scene in "The Avengers," though that version of the character was largely CGI since Marvel hadn't yet found the actor that would portray Thanos.

Just before Comic-Con 2014, Marvel announced that it had found its Thanos in the form of actor Josh Brolin. Fans hailed Brolin as a provocative and fitting choice, and the actor even put in a surprise (if brief) appearance at Marvel's Comic-Con panel.

As that panel kicked off, Marvel showed a five minute sizzle reel of highlights from its films thus far. It was a big hit with attendees, whipping them into a frenzy for the hour-long event to come. Today, Marvel released that video on YouTube, so everyone can see what the fuss was about.

It turns out the excitement largely stemmed from a cameo that comes at the very end of the video, when we finally see Thanos. Sitting on his cosmic throne while wearing his best wicked grin, Thanos intones, "I will bathe the star-ways in your blood."

We've taken a few screenshots from the video and enhanced them so you can see more details of Thanos' appearance. It's about as close to a perfect a comic-to-film interpretation as fans could hope for. It's expected that Thanos will play a more visible role in Marvel's upcoming film slate, likely culminating in the third "Avengers" film.

Below you'll find the enhanced screenshots and an embed of the Marvel sizzle reel for your viewing pleasure.

As the Guardians of the Galaxy would say... You're welcome.
