The hunt for a suitable gaming laptop can be tiring and difficult for avid gamers as one invariably ends up comparing the price to gaming consoles, which are a lot cheaper.

However, the gaming experience on a laptop and the power and speed they can offer make the investment worthwhile. Plus the laptop can be used for other purposes as well.

We check out some of the best gaming laptops of 2015.

MSI GT80 Titan SLI

The MSI GT80 Titan SLI is a behemoth of a gaming laptop, but don't let its imposing 18.4-inch 1920 x 1080 pixels screen and 9.9 pound frame.

The laptop features a mechanical keyboard which offers accuracy and speed while gaming or typing. The digital trackpad also converts into a numpad, you merely need to tap a button.

Under the hood, the laptop houses an Intel Core i7 CPU and two Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M GPUs in SLI configuration, which translates into two times the power and more fun! You can even upgrade the GPU, RAM and hard drive if you choose as the chassis enables this option.

The laptop is priced at $4,400 and is available from Amazon.

Razer Blade (2015)

The Razer Blade (2015) is yet another powerful laptop which will find appeal with gamers. The 14-inch laptop weighs 4.4 pounds and is quite svelte. The battery life of the laptop is pretty good and its bright and detailed 3200 x 1800 touchpanel will find favor with gamers.

The device's Switchblade touchpad interface is its USP and basically converts the touchpad into a fully-functional tiny second display which one can use to enhance the gaming experience, or simply use to check emails or stream videos on YouTube.

The powerful Intel Core i7-3632QM CPU coupled with GeForce GTX 970M graphics from Nvidia make the Razer Blade a strong contender for the best gaming laptop. The laptop's portability also wins it brownie points, as does the crisp sound it offers.

Equipped Nvidia's fast GeForce GTX 970M graphics, the Blade is a must-buy for gamers searching for the ultimate thin-and-light gaming laptop. - See more at:

The laptop is available for $2,399 (configured version) from Newegg.

Alienware 15 R2

This 15-inch laptop is yet another powerhouse performer and a great buy for gamers. The great thing about Alienware laptops is that you have customization options which mean one can personalize the device.

The Alienware 15 R2 is no different and can be customized. The base model sports a 15.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a Core i5-6300HQ processor, as well as a GTX 965. This model starts at $1,100.

Shelling out $1,600 will get you the variant which has a Core i7-6700HQ processor and GTX 970M graphics card. This has 16GB of DDR4 and 1TB HDD. You can also customize the graphics card and upgrade it to GTX 980M for $350.

Lenovo Y50 Touch 4K

The affordable Lenovo Y50 Touch 4K offers a 4K resolution, which enhances any content. This undoubtedly translates into a fabulous gaming experience. However, there is one setback - most games cannot be cranked up to 4K resolution.

The mid-size laptop has a touchscreen and houses the GeForce GTX 860M graphics card, which is pretty decent for both gaming and non-gaming purposes. However, with most new laptops housing the GTX 980M, Lenovo would have done well to offer this option or at least customization ability so that one could upgrade.

The 15.6-inch screen has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. The non-4K version of the Lenovo Y50's display seemed a tad washed out, but the Ultra 4K variant resolves the issue.

The laptop has a decent battery life and can be purchased for $1,199.99 from Amazon.

Alienware 17 (2015)

No list of best gaming laptops for the year would be complete without the Alienware 17 (2015) version. The futuristic-looking 17-inch 1080p display laptop is the latest iteration and includes an upgrade to one of the most powerful graphics cards around - the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M GPU - which translates to great frame rates while playing games.

The Alienware 17 (2015) also houses an Intel Core i7 processor and a Full HD screen. The laptop also supports dynamic overclocking and one can add a graphics amplifier if they wish to enable better gameplay and graphics. It also boasts a fantastic battery life

The laptop starts at $1,499.
