Windows Phone fans on a budget will be happy to know that they can now purchase the Microsoft Lumia 550. The new smartphone is on sale for $149.99 from B&H Photo and is one of the first smartphones to ship with the new Windows 10 Mobile OS installed out of the box.

Microsoft has been facing an uphill battle in the smartphone arena, which has been dominated by Apple's iOS and Google's Android for years. The company recently released its latest flagship smartphones; the Lumia 850 and Lumia 950XL, which have been positioned to go head to head with Apple's iPhone 6s/6s Plus, Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, Note 5, S6 Edge+, and Google Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.

The Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL were the first smartphones to ship with Microsoft's next-generation smartphone OS, Windows Mobile 10. The all-new mobile OS seeks to bring a unified user experience and features to all computers, tablets, and smartphones running Windows 10.

Microsoft is currently selling the unlocked Lumia 950 for $549 and has priced the Lumia 950XL at $649, but Windows Phone fans looking to get a handset with Windows 10 Mobile installed out of the box can now purchase the unlocked Lumia 550 for $149.99.

The unlocked Microsoft Lumia 550 features a 4.7-inch 1,289 x 720 display with a pixel density of 314 pixels per inch and is powered by 1.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, Adreno 304 GPU, and 1 GB of RAM. The smartphone includes 8 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that supports up to 200 GB.

In terms of camera capabilities, the Lumia is packing a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter for video chat and selfies. The smartphone includes a 2,100 mAh battery that will provide up to 14 hours of talk time and 672 hours of standby time.

B&H Photo is offering the unlocked Microsoft Lumia 550 for $149.99 in a choice of either white or black.
