Amazon had a record-breaking holiday achievement this year after its Amazon Prime gained more than 3 million members worldwide. The company also noted how this year's holiday also became the best ever for Amazon devices with the all-new Fire tablet as the best-selling item on Amazon.com.

Amazon said that more than 200 million more items had been shipped for free with Prime this holiday shopping season. The service also became the busiest ever on the eve of Christmas, when the last delivery was made to a customer in Texas at 11:59 p.m.

"Amazon's 21st holiday was a record-breaker for Amazon Prime, Amazon Original Series and Amazon devices," said Amazon in a press release.

Amazon Prime currently offers a number of unlimited shipping and delivery freebies that include free delivery on the same day, free shipping in a two-day period and free superfast delivery of only two hours to over 20 metro areas. Members, who have to pay $99 a year to enjoy Amazon's Prime service, are also given unlimited access to a multitude of movies and TV titles that include the company's award-winning Amazon Original Series at no extra cost.

Currently, Amazon Prime Video is available in certain locations such as the U.S., the UK, Germany, Austria and Japan. However, the company's Prime membership services are accessible in more countries.

Apart from the Fire tablet, other Amazon devices that were top-sellers across all available items on Amazon.com include the Fire TV Stick and Amazon Echo.

Mobile shopping was also in an all-time high during the holiday season. Almost 70 percent of customers made purchases at Amazon.com through their mobile devices.

Some of the holiday best sellers that were recorded at Amazon.com include the Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB 2.5-inch SATA III Internal SSD; GoPro HERO4 SILVER; Panasonic RPHJE120K In-Ear Headphone; Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones; Toshiba C55 Laptop; SONOS PLAY: 1 2-Room Streaming Music Starter Set Bundle; and more.

"This was another great holiday season to be a Prime member, and we welcomed 3 million new members in the third week of December alone," said Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com.
