J.J Abrams knows how to tease his films.

When audiences went to see Transformers back in 2007, Paramount and Bad Robot debuted a trailer for a mysterious monster movie with no name from Abrams. This film would be known as Cloverfield, which was released in 2008.

And now he has done it again.

Before Michael Bay's latest film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Paramount Pictures surprised audiences again by releasing what was rumored to be a sequel to Cloverfield.

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, produced by J.J. Abrams for Bad Robot, written by Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken, and starring John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr., the film takes place in an underground cellar where three people are seeking safety from something horrible that is occurring outside.

However, this time around the film has a name —10 Cloverfield Lane.

Rumors for the trailer's release first surfaced on Twitter on Thursday night, Jan. 14, and it was later confirmed to have debuted before 13 Hours. Paramount has now released the trailer online.

However, Abrams is clearing up rumors that this is a sequel, telling Collider that this technically isn't the case.

"The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible," he said.

Separating itself from being a Cloverfield sequel, the film was initially rumored to be called Valencia or The Cellar.

The trailer features Tommy James and The Shondell's "I Think We're Alone Now," adding to the creepiness of the film. Goodman appears to be a doomsday prepper who takes in the other two characters. According to Variety, there has been some type of chemical attack and the outside world is no longer safe. Winstead's character wakes up in the cellar after a car accident and thinks she has been abducted.

Over time, Goodman's character becomes violent and Winstead's character tries to escape. But right before she opens the door to the outside world, she sees something that scares her to the core.

10 Cloverfield Lane will hit theaters on March 11. Watch the trailer below.
