The upcoming Motorola Moto X + 1 is getting close to officially being announced. The smartphone's specs have leaked via Geekbench and confirm it will have a 2.46 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor.

Motorola is preparing to launch some highly anticipated devices in the near future. The company has been getting high praise in early hands on reviews of its Moto 360 Android Wear-based smartwatch. Motorola hasn't announced an exact release date for the wearable; it has only said that it will be released later this summer.

We recently reported that a tipster confirmed some of the Moto 360's features, which include a built-in heart rate sensor and pedometer, its battery life is reportedly rated around 2.5 days, and the device will ship with a cradle that will allow it to wirelessly charge itself.

In what appears to be a parting gift from Google now that it sold Motorola to Lenovo, the company has reportedly been tapped to build Google's upcoming Nexus 6. The smartphone is believed to be codenamed 'Shamu' and is expected to feature a 5.9-inch display in addition to an onboard fingerprint scanner. Motorola is also planning a follow up to its current flagship Moto X with the Moto X + 1.

The Motorola Moto X + 1 has made an appearance on Geekbench, where it's listed by its model number, Motorola XT1097. The benchmark confirms that the smartphone will ship with a 2.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, which means it will be on par with the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The Motorola Moto X + 1 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 full HD display and run Android 4.4.4 KitKat, with an upgrade to Android L planned for the future. It will reportedly ship with 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128GB microSD cards. Its camera capabilities are said to include a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and selfies. The smartphone is expected to pack in 2GB of RAM and a large 2,900 mAh battery.

The most recent reports claim the Moto X + 1 should hit retail shelves in September. As always, once we hear any new information regarding Motorola's next flagship smartphone, we'll report back.
