Fans of the Dark Souls series might like to know that a "Dark Souls" comic is in the works and will see the light of day in April, this year.

IGN was the first to report that Titan Comics purchased the copyrights for the bleak, atmospheric and terribly intense Bandai Namco franchise. The publishing initiative aims to bring the first number of "Dark Souls" comic book in April, a couple of days before the official launch of the third Dark Souls installment.

The #1 "Dark Souls" comic-book will pamper its fans with no less than five differently rendered covers. Two of them come from artists Marco Turini and Joshua Cassara, one is a blank sketch cover and the final two are game covers. No official information surfaced on how long the "Dark Souls" comics will endure. Whether we will look at a limited series or at an ongoing publication remains to be seen, but we will make sure to let your know as soon as we find out.

George Mann, who is in charge of the narrative aspects, showed his enthusiasm for being part of the team that will bring "Dark Souls" on paper.

"I'm 'dead' excited to be working on this new series (see what I did, there)," Mann comments.

"'Dark Souls' has a rich, original universe that's just begging to be explored in comics, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to delve in and tell some new stories within it," he adds.

Mann notes that, as he has been a fan of the game for a while, he is more than thrilled to contribute to the mythological universe of the Hollows. In a way, Mann embodies every geek's dream: to be so good in your line of work so that you can actually make a contribution to the fictional universe of your choice.

Mann also writes for Titan's Doctor Who comics. We can only imagine how hilarious it would be if he (by mistake or design) were to mix the dialogues between the two comics. "Dark Souls" will get its graphical content from Alan Quah, who will work closely with Mann.

It is not the first time when a comic book based on the Dark Souls universe enters the spotlight.

In 2014, the publisher of Dark Souls, Bandai Namco, started a digital comic inspired by the second game in the franchise. The e-comic can be found on its Facebook page, and it features the writing of Andi Ewington and Rob Williams, while the graphical art comes from Simon Coleby.

Readers will browse the prime paper edition of a "Dark Souls" comic on April 6, 2016, only a week before the official release of the video game Dark Souls III. In case you haven't yet, take a look at the amazing trailer for the upcoming game below. Do note the ominous words that appear in the trailer, which fans of the series speculated could mean a major plot twist.

Dark Souls III is scheduled for launch on April 12 of this year, when the anticipated action role-playing video game (RPG) will land on Xbox One, PC and PS4.
