Who knew you could kick a trip to the beach up a notch by ditching your Speedo for something a little more full-bodied?

A startup wearable tech creator named WaveWrecker has come out with a wetsuit — complete with fins — that can apparently turn the wearer into a human surfboard, making a dip in the ocean a bit of a gamechanger.

Purportedly, the suit turns the wearer into a human surfboard, "designed to make your body streamlined and able to glide through the water and ride waves with marine mammal-like ease," according to the design team's Kickstarter page. Located on the arms, legs, torso and back of the swimsuit, the 11 foam fins help the swimmer ride out a wave at a longer capacity in overall buoyancy.

The company's suit design isn't incredibly out of left field: fins, like flippers, aid in speed as well as directional range — just ask most fish and marine animals.

In development for six years, the suit is currently raising money via the company's crowdfunding page; as of now, the startup has raised almost $3,000 USD of its $10,000 goal.

Maybe the epitome of the project can be summed up by WaveWrecker itself: as the company says, "Where we're going, we don't need boards." 

You can preorder the adult suit for $399 USD or the kids' suit for $299 USD at the WaveWrecker website. If all goes according to plan, the company hopes to start shipping them out in April of this year — just in time for beach season.
