The long wait for Marvel's "Agent Carter" is finally over and we just got treated to an action-packed and intriguing two-episode premiere of season two on Jan. 19. But if you're not fully in La La land with Agent Peggy Carter yet, the producers have your back. Executive Producers Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas revealed a few things about the new season so you can see how everything that happened in this show, "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the Marvel Cinematic Universe tie up.

Yes, it all ties up together not just because Agent Carter is one of the founders of what is currently the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) and she is Steve Rogers' old flame, but because "Agent Carter" just introduced Zero Matter, a mysterious council, a formidable villain and a possible love interest.

Season 2 Premiere Recap

The first few minutes showed a bank heist by a woman who resembled Agent Carter only to be revealed that it was escaped Soviet assassin, Dottie Underwood. To her surprise, Agent Carter is in the bank vault waiting to capture her-- but not without a fight, of course.

The Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR) branched out to Los Angeles under the leadership of Chief Daniel Souza and, when a puzzling came to the undermanned SSR, Peggy is sent to L.A. to help with the case. We then get treated to a puzzling case of a lake freezing in the middle of a heat wave, a body of a female particle physicist at Isodyne Energy encased in ice, frozen through and through, bioluminescent and causes others exposed to her to freeze as well.

Weaving The Marvel Stories Together

Butters and Fazekas confirmed several things from the season premiere other than the fact that they did a lot of historical research to make sure their depiction of 1947 L.A. is accurate.

1. The mysterious Council is actually the Secret Empire.
The evil organization that calls itself "The Council," which has ties to very powerful people and, in a way, "runs the world," is the Secret Empire from the comic books and Frost's husband is a member.

2. Zero Matter is Darkforce and it has ties to Doctor Strange.
It also has a thin tie to Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." which briefly had to deal with a Darkforce powered individual in season one but "Agent Carter" will be exploring its different effects on people more than the actual Darkforce.

3. The fate of Jason Wilkes is one of the central issues.
"His fate is a large part of what drives Peggy in the second season, as she feels responsible for putting him in harm's way... the battle between Whitney Frost and Peggy becomes a battle for Wilkes' soul," Butters said.

4. Whitney Frost is not your ordinary, trained villain but a reinterpreted Madame Masque, sans the gold mask.
"Whitney begins to see her transformation as a gift... This is our own version of a Madame Masque "origin story," [...] you understand why she's doing what she's doing," Fazekas explained.

5. Peggy Carter is dealing with more issues now.
"As she goes through this season, she starts to uncover the corruption, even within her own organization... It makes her make decisions that you don't necessarily expect her to make. We send her on an interesting journey in that way," Fazekas said.

With all that, this is definitely going to be an exciting season!
