After unveiling both the Gear S2 smartwatch series and the Gear VR headset during at last year's IFA, Samsung is finally bringing the two cutting edge wearable devices to the Indian market.

The South Korean tech giant announced on Thursday that its signature Tizen OS-powered Gear S2 and S2 Classic smartwatches will be made available for purchase through Samsung retail stores in India.

The Gear S2 is priced at Rs 24,300 ($367), while the S2 Classic edition is priced at Rs 25,800 ($390).

For customers who wish to buy the new Gear S2 and S2 Classic online, the smartwatches are available exclusively Flipkart. Samsung is offering Indian-themed watch faces to mark the official launch of the Gear S2 series in the country.

Rose Gold and Platinum editions of the S2 Classic that were introduced during the recently concluded CES 2016 will be released in India by the end of January.

Aside from the Gear S2 smartwatches, Samsung is also releasing the Gear VR headset, which can be bought from Flipkart for Rs 8,200 ($123).

The Gear S2 And S2 Classic

Billed as Samsung's response to Apple's flagship wearable The Apple Watch, the Gear S2 and S2 Classic feature the latest version of the operating system Tizen, which allows both smartwatches to be more compatible with a wider range of apps than earlier Gear watches.

Both smartwatches have been fitted with a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display that sports a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels as well as a pixel density of 302ppi. Their displays are also covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for optimum protection from damage.

Processing for the Gear S2 and S2 Classic are handled by 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM, and both devices are equipped with 4GB storage.

As far as onscreen features go, both wearable devices come with a full range of sensors such as an accelerometer, heart rate meter, barometer, gyroscope and even ambient light. These smartwatches come with a 250 mAh battery that can be powered through wireless charging.

The band for the S2 Classic is available in brown and gray variants to match the wearer's fashion style.

The Gear VR Headset

The Oculus-powered VR headset allows users to have an immersive augmented reality experience using any of Samsung's 2015 line of smartphones.

A new VR web browser has also been announced that would provide users the ability to surf the Internet using the device.
