After splitting from Sony, Vaio is continuing to expand its line of laptops in the U.S.. The company announced on Tuesday the release of its new Vaio Z flagship notebook line, which includes two different models aimed at business professionals.

Vaio's Z Flip 2-in-1 notebook features a 13.3-inch 2560 x 1440 WQHD touch-screen display that is powered by Intel's 6th generation 28W Skylake or Core i5 processor and has 16 GB of RAM. The Z Flip uses Vaio Z Engine technology to make the motherboard smaller so there is more room to hold a larger battery and fans to prevent overheating. The notebook is said to have a battery life of up to 11 hours, 30 minutes.

Weighing in at just 2.96 pounds, the notebook is light enough for business execs to take with them on-the-go. The best part is that the flip model has a rotating screen mechanism to allow the user to take it from a notebook to a tablet. This is beneficial for professionals who want take notes and then flip the device to share a screen during a presentation. The Z Flip comes with a pressure-sensitive stylus for note taking, as well as an 8-megapixel high-res camera and CamScanner app to allow the user to take, store, edit and share documents and images.

The second laptop featured in the Vaio Z lineup is the Z Clamshell, which is similar to the Z Flip with some minor differences. For example, the Z Clamshell is a bit lighter at 2.58 pounds, has a 13.3-inch 2560 x 1440 WQHD or a full HD display that is not touch screen. This notebook offers 15 hours, 30 minutes battery life.

Both models feature an aluminum and UD(uni-direction) carbon chassis model for durability, as well as a touch pad that uses mica to deliver the best feel when typing, along with a special coating on the keyboard to prevent smudges.

Vaio also introduced the Vaio S laptop, which is equipped with a 13.3-inch full HD display, and has a standard analog RGB output, HDMI output, LAN connector, and three USB 3.0 ports for charging all the user's devices. The Vaio S features a molded magnesium alloy casing for durability, and has a more ergonomic keyboard to reduce stress on the wrist for long days of typing. This models comes with Microsoft's Signature Edition software preinstalled.

The Z Flip is already available in Japan, but it will finally make its way to the U.S. market for a retail price starting at $1,799 when it becomes available to order on Feb. 8. The Vaio Z Clamshell starts at $1,499 and will be available in early March.

The Vaio S will start at $1,099 when it becomes available in early March as well.
