The famous Barbie dolls got a new makeover, and it was 50 years in the making. After decades of seeing Barbie as the epitome of beauty standards for children, the doll finally flaunts a new array of body types, skin color, eye color, hairstyles and professions.

With its new banner "The Evolution of Barbie," the company said that they included new careers to choose from, so the dolls can further spur the imagination of children around the world.

"For more than 55 years, Barbie has been a global, cultural icon and a source of inspiration and imagination to millions of girls around the world," Richard Dickson, President and CEO of Mattel said.

"Barbie reflects the world girls see around them. Her ability to evolve and grow with the times, while staying true to her spirit, is central to why Barbie is the number one fashion doll in the world," he added.

Mattel debuted new Barbie dolls for the coming year and aside from the new body types, it launched new doll career types: Game Developer Barbie, Spy Barbie, President and Vice President Barbie, and the Fashionistas.

Game Developer Barbie, Career of the Year, will be available in stores by summer. It is one of the notable additions to the iconic doll's professional line that debuted this year. The company has not issued further details on the new doll, but based on the photo released, it comes with a laptop.

Along with the Barbie who makes games for a living, the other line consists of President and Vice President Barbie, which will also be released this summer.

The Evolution of Barbie's slogan, "You can be anything", shows that the doll goes with the flow of evolution through time. Modern women in the workforce now have a lot of job options. Not only does Barbie have a new selection of new careers in conjunction with modern women today, it also has three other types: the curvy, tall and petite.

"Girls everywhere now have infinitely more ways to play out their stories and spark their imaginations through Barbie. Along with more overall diversity, we proudly add three new body types to our line," the company said.
