It looks like the plan to give 99 percent of his Facebook shares away hasn't hit Mark Zuckerberg too hard: the founder and CEO of Facebook (as well as a VR enthusiast and newly-coined family man) has been named the sixth-richest person in the world by Bloomberg's Billionaires Index.

According to the Index, Zuckerberg's placement is due to a drastic overnight uptick in net worth, leaving the mogul with a total of $47.5 billion after a whopping $6 billion gain (at least at the time this article is being written).

Zuckerberg managed to beat out the Koches (Charles came in seventh place at $638.7 million plus with a $45.9 billion net worth, followed by his brother David for the same amount — assuming the Index doesn't believe in ties), with the Larrys (Page and Ellison) tailing behind to round out the bottom half of the top 10.

As for ranks one through five? Ahead of Zuckerberg by one slot is Carlos Slim, and in ascending order Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Amancio Ortega, and (no surprise here) Bill Gates at number one.

So, what's responsible for the surge? It's all due to Facebook shattering Wall Street's profit and sales estimates this past quarter, netting $5.8 billion for the fiscal period (and $18 billion for this past year overall).
