Boasted of as the world's first interactive teaser, Sony announced a new Silent Hill game is in the works and the survival horror game will feature both the voice and likeness of "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus.

The latest installment of the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hills, was announced during Sony's press conference at Gamescom 2014 and the interactive demo was released onto the PlayStation Network immediately. Individuals with a heart condition have been warned to skip the demo.

The game was initially presented as "PT," which was later said to to be an acronym for "playable teaser." Twitch user SoapyWarpig was one of the first gamers to stream PT and the project's true name was revealed at the end of her playthrough.

After scouring for clues through the annals of a poltergeist-plagued home, the game cuts to scene on the street with the camera positioned behind an unknown character. Hideo Kojima's name appears on the screen, director Guillermo Del Toro is given a credit and then the character's face, Reedus' likeness, is revealed.

The Twitch stream of PT closes with the words "Silent Hills."

Back in March, Kojima stated that he hoped to sometime work on a Silent Hill game. To work on the game, Kojima stated that he would have to be prepared to face a bout of "real-life nightmares."

Del Toro's role in the Silent Hills project has yet to be revealed, although due to his storied directing career, it's safe to assume he'll be directing the game in some capacity. The use of Reedus' likeness and voice in the game has been confirmed -- SoapyWarpig recognized the actor who plays Daryl Dixon immediately.

The playable teaser of Silent Hills was aptly labeled, as the demo offered little insight on the game's premise. A release date for the game was not announced.

While Silent Hills was introduced during Sony's Gamescom 2014 conference, there has been no word about the platforms on which the game will arrive. The last Silent Hill title was a PlayStation Vita exclusive, but the previous game in the series was made available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Kojima's other project, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, has been expected to be revealed at Gamescom 2014 at some point. The Phantom Pain follows a short prequel, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros, and will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
