Aranea Highwind is headed to Final Fantasy XVcoming as the newest villain to stand against Noctis Lucis Caelum and his allies.

Director Hajime Tabata and Marketing Manager Akio Ofuji revealed the latest character addition during an Active Time Report. Commander of Niflheim's Third Army Corps 87th Airborne Division, she is described as a "skilled aerial combatant known as 'Dragoon' within the Imperial military."

Square Enix also included a short clip that showcased how the combat system works with magic. It starts out with the group sneaking into what seems to be a military base, where Noctis and his teammates battle with a couple of soldiers and some mechanical foes using weapons, magic and teamwork.

Highwind enters the fray as the encounter starts to heat up, but the footage abruptly ends as she strikes steel with steel against the protagonists.

What's equally exciting aside from the intense action is that the game developer disclosed more details regarding the March 2016 event announced back in August 2015. Dubbed as "Final Fantasy Uncovered," Square Enix will finally give a solid release date of Final Fantasy XV along with "major announcements and surprises" then.

It'll be held in Los Angeles on March 30 at 7:00 p.m. PT, and it'll be open to the public, where attendees will have the opportunity to RSVP via the official event website starting from Feb. 5 at 4:00 p.m. PT. For those who can't come because of geographic restrictions, the company will fortunately stream "Final Fantasy Uncovered" on YouTube and Twitch.

To keep the good news flowing, a new playable demo could be well under way soon enough, but just like the case with the full game, its release date won't be announced until the big event in March.

Meanwhile, the team behind the highly anticipated game answered some questions regarding Altissia, warp points and battle modes in early January, and they gave some pretty interesting insider details.
