DC's Legends of Tomorrow has a lot of Easter eggs, and the Instagram account for DC Comics recently teased some of those for fans.

Legends of Tomorrow fans with sharp eyes have noticed many objects appearing on the show on the spaceship Waverider, including an hourglass, a few helmets, a gas mask and a wanted poster. Those objects might seem random, but they all have specific associations with DC Comics characters.

The official Twitter account for DC Comics posted photos of the Easter eggs and told fans to go to its Instagram account to discover the truth behind those objects.

The first two objects, #1 and #2, haven't been added to Instagram yet, but that first helmet looks an awful lot like the one worn by Sgt. Rock, a character who first appeared in comic books in 1959. The second item is a statue of an owl. That one's also not yet on the Instagram account, but could it be in reference to Doctor Mid-Nite, another character from the golden age of comics, who often kept owls as sidekicks? DC, however, already has revealed the other four objects. The gas mask belongs to Sandman, aka Wesley Dodds: that character first debuted in 1939. Sandman wielded a gun that emitted a gas that could put people to sleep.

The hourglass references the 1940s character Hourman, who got powers from a drug that gave him superhero powers for an hour at a time. An interesting side note is that The CW, the same network that airs Legends of Tomorrow, once considered a series based on the character.

The pot-helmet belongs to Ma Hunkel, aka Red Tornado, possibly one of the first female superheroes (her first comic book appearance predates Wonder Woman's by several years).

Finally, the wanted poster is Jonah Hex, a surly bounty hunter from the Wild West. Strangely enough, Hex is the only character with an Easter egg who did not debut during the golden age of comics: he didn't make his first appearance until the 1970s.

So what's up with all of these Easter eggs? Legends of Tomorrow already announced that the series would visit the Wild West and even cast someone to portray Jonah Hex. Does that mean that these other characters will eventually show up, too?

There's only one way to find out: watch DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which airs at 8 p.m. Thursdays on The CW.
