LG launches the new K8, a midrange handset that comes from the company's K-series of devices.

The new LG K8 joins the LG K7 and K10 devices that the company launched earlier this year.

While the LG K8 seems to have identical size with the LG K7, the device nevertheless has a higher resolution display. It also comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. However, the rest of the specs may just be what one should expect to see on a midrange model.

The new LG K8 features a 5-inch 720p HD display and runs on a quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 chipset. It's built with 1.5 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 8 GB, which is expandable by up to 32 GB through the handset's microSD card slot.

Other notable highlights include an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 5-megapixel front camera, Mali T720 GPU, removable Li-Ion battery of 2,045mAh and connectivity options that include LTE, Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi.

LG is yet to unveil the LG G5 on Feb. 21 at the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona, Spain. Compared with the G5, which will be officially announced before this year's MWC, the new LG K8 seemed to have a quiet "unofficial" launch.

The device was first spotted at LG's Hungarian website where it carried the unit label of LG K350N. While other details such as pricing and availability are not stated, customers may expect to see the handset to become available in select countries in Europe.

In the latter part of January, LG also launched its Android-powered K4 device. Similar to the K8's European sighting, the K4 will reportedly hit the stores in Europe including the Commonwealth of Independent States. The handset, along with its other siblings in the K lineup will eventually be released in other regions that include Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.

LG also lately announced the LG X screen and LG X cam handsets and paired them with its Tone Platinum Bluetooth headset. Other device announcements involve the LG Stylus 2, which is also expected to be officially unveiled at the MWC event.

If all things would go as planned, LG fans will certainly have a lot of things to look forward to at this year's MWC. Perhaps the most interesting bit of information about the event is how LG will attempt to become more relevant in various markets with its new handset launches.
