"Deadpool" has been making waves since its release in cinemas on Feb. 12, breaking record after record even with its hard R-rating, but fans still cannot seem to get enough of the wise-cracking merc with a mouth. In January, barely a month before the cinematic release of "Deadpool," a fan started a petition to get Ryan Reynolds in all his Deadpool glory to host an episode of "Saturday Night Live" (SNL).

Andrew Stege addressed the petition to Lorne Michaels, NBC, "Saturday Night Live," and "Deadpool" actor Reynolds, and asked them to get Reynolds to hold the sketch show as the anti-hero so he could insert the merc's brand of humor.

"How would this not be hilarious having Deadpool in sketches, breaking the 4th wall, and inserting some of his brand of humor?" Stege wrote on his Change.org petition page. "How awesome would it be to have some Deadpool interpretive dancing while the musical guest was playing? There's unlimited possibilities!"

The page aimed to get 75,000 signatures but gained around 30,000. However, after getting picked up by AOL and Chris Hardwick, the number quickly doubled. As of Sunday, the petition needs less than 2,000 signatures to reach its goal.

The supporters, however, make it clear that what they want is not Ryan Reynolds hosting "SNL" with an appearance by Deadpool. What they want is Reynolds in character as Deadpool for the entire show.

"[Reynolds] as Deadpool is every skit, just with a wig and costume on over his normal costume," one of the supporters clarified.

There is no word yet from SNL producer Michaels, SNL and NBC, but Reynolds already heard about it and responded on Twitter saying Deadpool actually missed an opportunity to host the show in the 90s and Tom Hanks took over for him.
