Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S7 on Sunday, and now eager tech enthusiasts have done a thorough dissection of the innards of the device to reveal what lies within.

Russian tech blog Hi-tech Mail managed to lay its hands on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and conducted a teardown of the next-gen smartphone to reveal how its liquid cooling system operates.

Samsung has announced at the unveiling that the Galaxy S7 deploys a liquid cooling system that will keep the handset from overheating – a major problem OEMs are faced with high-processing devices. The GPU and CPU are primary contributors to the increase in temperature, because with more power comes more heat.

It was because of overheating concerns that Samsung bypassed the Snapdragon 810 processor for its Galaxy S6 smartphone in 2015. Because putting a fan to lower heat is not an option, the Korean-based manufacturer has found that an effective solution is to deploy liquid cooling technology inside handset.

"For the first time Samsung has established within the smartphone heat-conducting copper tube for cooling. The new chip Exynos 8890 is not only powerful, but also hot!" the blog says.

The notion that a smartphone has liquid cooling to regulate its temperature is quite exciting and one wonders how it would work inside a handset.

The teardown reveals that the feature is based on a complex flat copper piping that has a small amount of liquid inside. The material is woven around the GPU and CPU to negate the heat the Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 would generate if used.

"Remove the top layer of boards and modules, and our way deeper. Then a surprise: Copper heat-conducting tube for cooling. We have already seen such on the analysis of Sony smartphones, this method of cooling is used for fresh and Lumia 950, but Samsung uses a similar solution for the first time," revealed the site.

How does the feature work?

For example, if the user was busy gaming – by the way, the new Vulcan graphics and Game Launcher are nifty additions to the phone – the extra heat the GPU would generate will be evenly distributed then dissipate quicker. The liquid cooling system will ensure that the smartphone does not freeze nor overheat; thus maintaining the motherboard's lifespan.
