The second season of Daredevil brings Elektra to the small screen: Netflix just posted a good first look at the character, as portrayed by actress Elodie Yung, in the form of a new poster and video clip.

The poster shows Elektra posing with her dual swords in what presumably is her costume for the series. It's a rather uninspired look, but the Netflix Marvel shows seem to prefer understated outfits for their superheroes: even Daredevil's own costume seems bland.

The video clip, though, shows a better look at the character, with her swords flying through the air to deftly slice through her foes. This is the first time fans have seen the character in action and it seems as if she'll become as formidable as Daredevil and Punisher in this second season of the Netflix series.

"We think Elektra is a sociopath," said Yung to Collider. "This world is a game for her. It's like a chess game, and what motivates her is what she wants. She'll use anything she needs to use to get to her goal, and if she needs to kill people, she will. She has this coldness in her, and I tried to keep that. But on the other hand, we wanted to create a character with different layers."

In Marvel Comics, Elektra appeared in the Daredevil books as a creation of Frank Miller. She eventually became an ongoing villain in the series as an assassin who worked for Kingpin, who, at one point, ordered her to kill Matt Murdock's best friend, Foggy Nelson.

Will Netflix use this backstory with Elektra in its second season of Daredevil? The series does seem to want to at least reference the comics (especially considering Netflix released images from a scene from season two that is nearly identical to at least one comic story), so it's likely that some of this will prove true when the show returns.

"I think Elektra isn't a bad person, but she's not a good person," said Yung. "She's a person with different traits, with layers, and she's seeking who she is. In this season, there's an arc to her story. Hopefully, she'll find we'll find out who she is, by the end of it."

The second season of Daredevil premieres on Netflix on March 18.
