One of the new faces to join the Marvel Universe in “Captain America: Civil War” will be Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. According to the actor, the weight of the heroes war will weigh heavily on the African Prince although he won't actually be a superhero himself.

According to Boseman, Black Panther, whose real name is T'Challa, is the prince of the fictional African Nation of Wakanda. Although the comic book character was imbued with super human strength, agility, speed, and senses when he consumed a “Heart-Shaped Herb,” it is still unknown if he will already be given those powers by the time the character is introduced in “Civil War.”

It is also unknown if Black Panther will be #TeamCaptainAmerica or #TeamIronMan. The first time we caught a glimpse of him, he was already wearing his suit made of the same material as Captain America's shield and falling in line along with Black Widow, Vision, and War Machine with Tony Stark. But in another set of photos from the set, he seems to be fighting on the side of Falcon and Cap himself.

Boseman explained to Empire magazine that his character is “not a superhero” but he is on a political mission to tame feud over the registration act between the superhumans and get it under control.

“All heroes have a weight on their shoulders, but there will eventually be a difference in what I have to carry politically and socially,” he said.

In addition to keeping the peace between the Marvel Cinematic Universe's heroes, Boseman also explained that doing justice to creating a believable fictional African kingdom was also important to him. He wanted Prince T'Challa to be regal and dignified and did his research on historical African nations of the past to inspire the accent he made up for the role.

“The idea of Wakanda is sort of, what if Timbuktu hasn’t been conquered? I basically listened to people and picked what sounded cool, since it’s not a specific place. It’s in the southern, central part of Africa. The attitude, the musicality, as is my preference of the character. It has to fit his dignity,” he explained.

“Black Panther” is also scheduled to have his own solo movie in 2018 which Boseman said will be a superhero movie but more character-driven.
